Hello … I’m Edward and I designed FUSION101 FREE Christian Singles in 1998 as I had a passion to make it easier for single Christians to find their husband or wife – having struggled myself but perhaps more importantly witnessed the difficulty of my single Christian friends had meeting new people as potential husbands and wives at church.
Since believers were on the decline anyway (at least in the West where life is generally good and God is ‘not needed’ any more – boy things are changing fast!), what I could see clearly ahead was a shrinking of the church (I don’t mean any denomination but believers wherever they are) if something was not done to help believers meet much more easily. Since 2000 101 has helped create 100’s and 100’s of marriages. Below is a brief outline of 101’s story.

So whilst ‘Fusion101’ as it was originally called started humbly from a garage shed, as a British based website and mainly catered for British and UK single Christians in Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland and Wales – indeed our first members were mainly from the UK, but we quickly gained 1000’s members from the US, Canada and just about every country globally.
Fusion started life serving mainly UK Christians
Fusion101 – often simply known as ‘101 free Christian dating service‘ has always been open to Christians generally around the world internationally and mainly focused on helping single Christians, but was also open to any Christians looking for friendship and fellowship (we have since changed it to focus just on singles as it was a little confusing and to that end we now have a separate – 101 Christian social network).
Even further back in time…
I originally envisaged fusion as a ‘portal’ – an exciting buzz-word at the time which is basicly a glorified term for a do-everything website where Christians coud not only find other singles for arranging dates, but a virtual meeting place where Christians could find world news, life advice, articles, Christian organisations to support, and a host of other services.
I had in my mind that the entire thing would function as a kind of ‘charity’ and fund all kinds of worthy needs and causes – Christian and otherwise! I think using the web to fund causes was quite a new idea back then at the end of 1998. Now it’s called ‘crowd-funding.’ Looking back I am somewhat embarrassed at my over-ambitiousness – if I’d known the problems I would encounter along the way I would probably have never started, but glad I did when I see the Christians we have brought together 🙂
101 featured in radio, video, and TV – Twice!
Fusion101 FREE Christian Singles service has been featured on several publications and youtube videos – as well as Premier Christian Radio. But it’s also been featured on TV twice. Once on British TV station ITV and once on French TV station ARTE-TV! Here is a feature page we created for it >>
Two goals in one!
I quickly realized that with no money, no web knowledge and no members – I couldn’t create my ‘charity’ without some kind of membership base. At the same time I thought that perhaps my main goal – to help single Christians meet, could be the answer to that, and I could use this service as the springboard to hit my two targets with one arrow.
101 Fusion UK dating for Christians was designed in late 1998 and launched in 2000 as one of the first, totally genuine Christian singles services. It featured lots of other sites and services for Christians in general. Fusion101, unlike most Christian singles web sites had one major advantage over its competitors; I was determined from the start to offer the best free Christian dating service there was and has to that end been successful!
By 2005 it was ranked one of the busiest sites on the Internet (59,000 on Alexa) and also now has the largest UK Christian singles database – but with a total of over 355,000 members worldwide from all continents including USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South America, South Africa and virtually every other countries.
Whilst most free dating and singles sites suffer (as a consequence of being free – ie lack of resources and manpower) 101 has managed to do the impossible and keep its membership 98% free from time wasters and spammers – something we found by testing them, makes most free dating site we tested useless. Internet scammers and spammers target free sites and services!
